چکیده

A new methodology for implementing radioactive particle tracking (RPT) in bubble columns with intense vertical rod internals was developed and implemented to investigate the effect of dense on hydrodynamics. The utilizes a hybrid Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) simulation an automated RPT calibration device generate large number points accurate reconstruction instantaneous positions particles using similarity algorithm. Measurements were conducted 6-inch (15.24 cm) Plexiglas column air–water system at superficial gas velocity 40 cm/s. Vertical rods 0.5 (1.27 diameter used cover ~25% total cross-sectional area represent heat-exchanging tube industrial Fisher–Tropsch synthesis. results showed that increased liquid near center by more than 30%, resulting enhanced circulation frequency eddy movement. In addition, turbulence parameters decreased noticeably when due reduction fluctuations. Reliable data can help validate computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models predict hydrodynamic other various conditions.

Hydrodynamics of a Gas-Solid Fluidized Bed at Elevated Temperatures Using the Radioactive Particle Tracking Technique

Effect of temperature on hydrodynamics of bubbling gas-solid fluidized beds was investigated.  Experiments were carried out in the range of 25-600 ºC and different superficial gas velocities in the range of 0.17-0.78 m/s with sand particles. Time-position trajectory of particles was obtained by radioactive particle tracking technique. These data were used for determination of mean velocitie...

Bubble Induced Mixing with Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics

W ithin this thesis, the Computational Fluid Dynamics method Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) is applied to simulate bubble induced mixing in wastewater treatment plants for the first time. To do so, a new SPH multiphase algorithm is presented that is especially designed to be very cheap in terms of computational costs and solves the problem that air bubbles are only stable for a short tim...

A New Modified Particle Filter With Application in Target Tracking

The particle filter (PF) is a novel technique that has sufficiently good estimation results for the nonlinear/non-Gaussian systems. However, PF is inconsistent that caused mainly by loss of particle diversity in resampling step and unknown a priori knowledge of the noise statistics. This paper introduces a new modified particle filter called adaptive unscented particle filter (AUPF) to overcome th...
